Description
Six Bells Lane, Sevenoaks
Sevenoaks, close to the western border of Kent, is one of the most prosperous and stylish towns in the county. Its most famous landmark is Knole House, set in a 1,000 acre park which is home to several hundred deer. The house is reputedly the largest under private ownership in England. Almost opposite Knole’s main entrance is Six Bells Lane at the very top of Sevenoaks High Street. This steep and narrow cobbled pedestrian passage meanders past the most charming and eclectic collection of Kentish cottages. Its name came from its close proximity to the church of St Nicholas which once had a peal of six bells.
