Description
Chilham Village
High above the Stour Valley, between Ashford and Canterbury in the north east of Kent, Chilham is undeniably an architectural gem of a village, much visited and photographed by tourists from across the world. Built predominantly around a broad, tranquil village square, it is a glorious compilation of English oak, lathe and plaster, and old weathered brickwork from Jacobean and Tudor times. This illustration of the square features much of all this rich mix and includes the White Horse Inn and the church of St Mary, both built in the 15th century.
